Ways to Share Your Financial Gifts
Your financial contributions make a huge difference to ministries and church life at Peace. Follow the links below for more information about the many ways you can give.
We appreciate your loving gifts to our community of faith. Please prayerfully consider your family’s contributions and fill out our congregational Pledge Card — find it by CLICKING HERE. Download, fill out and send to Office Manager firstname.lastname@example.org, or drop it off at the church office.
Electronic Giving (First Fruits)
Electronic Giving is an easy, secure way to make your regular contributions to Peace. Sign Up Today! Just download and print the First Fruits Enrollment and Authorization Form, fill it out, and return it to the church office.
Reasons to sign up for Electronic Giving:
• No need to write checks or bring cash to church
• Peace of mind knowing that the church is receiving your contribution even if you are unable to attend
• More secure than checks
• Can contribute using a checking or savings account
• All contributions are recorded for you on your bank statement
Weekly offering envelopes are a great way to combine your giving with attendance at worship services. Simply drop your gifts in the offering plate, and your personalized envelope number will assure that your contributions are properly credited. You can mail in your offering envelopes if you will be away. If you need offering envelopes, contact (605) 361-3683 or email@example.com.
Stocks and Securities
Gifts of appreciated stocks and securities can be an excellent way to share God’s gifts. There are two ways to make a donation of securities: through an electronic transfer authorization, or physical delivery. To ensure that we can acknowledge your gift for income-tax purposes, please notify us in advance of the transmittal by contacting the church office at (605) 361-3683 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Option 1: Electronic Transfer Authorization – Your broker can electronically transfer your securities to Peace.
Option 2: Physical Delivery – If you have stock certificates, you may deliver them in person, by registered mail, or by courier to Peace’s office.
Thrivent Choice Dollars Designation
Do you currently have investments with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans? If so, you may be eligible to direct designated Choice Dollars through Thrivent Choice. Eligible members can recommend Peace Lutheran Church as the beneficiary of some of Thrivent’s charitable outreach grant dollars – a great way to give to Peace is by simply participating in this program!
With Peace Lutheran’s Scrip Program, buying gift cards from participating merchants rebates a percentage to help our congregation! You can also direct your rebate toward Peace Lutheran Preschool tuition, Peace Care afterschool care, or Kids World daycare, if you have a child in one of those programs.
To get started, go to www.compuscrip.org, then click on “Member Login”; click on “create new user”; and choose SFPL (Sioux Falls Peace Lutheran) from the drop-down menu. Fill out the rest of your personal info and choose whether to support the Peace Lutheran quarterly mission or to supplement your child’s tuition for Peace Lutheran Preschool, Peace Care, or Kids World.
Then you create an order for gift cards. Choose from over 100 merchants that you already use. Each merchant has a different percentage that they’ll refund. Click here for a list of merchants and percentages they donate. Orders are due by midnight on Sundays; the gift cards you order can be picked up by the following Friday at 11:30 a.m., in the church office.
You can feel good about giving a portion that will become a tax-deductible rebate to support our church, or you can receive savings on your tuition at Peace Lutheran Preschool, Peace Care, Kids World, or selected camps.
If you have questions, contact the program administrator, Pam Falconer, or call the church office, 361-3683.
Though the Campaign ended on December 31, 2012, the Church Council is determined to completely pay off the residual construction loan by the end of 2013. If you wish to make a gift toward paying off the parking lot loan, contact email@example.com for further information.
In addition to the parking lot campaign, our Sanctuary Improvement Team is working on a master plan to determine how best to use memorial gifts and special gifts designated for the Sanctuary.
Legacy giving is not driven so much by the church’s need for ongoing support but rather by the desire of Peace members to express their gratitude to God in a tangible way, in perpetuity. We have inherited a strong church with a wonderful history in this city. It is a chief responsibility of our generation to carry that legacy forward and to add to it during our time as leaders of this congregation. We are grateful to you, Peace members and friends, for considering your Legacy of Gratitude to the work of this congregation and the future generations who will inherit it.
If you want help in planning your Legacy Gift, look for our upcoming workshop, Givers for Life, or contact Pastor Paul, firstname.lastname@example.org or (605) 361-3683.
Peace Lutheran Church Endowment Fund
As the Endowment Fund grows, the Endowment Team hopes to award grants for purposes such as
• Tuition assistance for Lutheran seminarians
• Special projects that fall outside of the annual church budget
• Building projects
• Staff enrichment
• Outreach beyond the church’s direct mission
Peace Lutheran offers a planning document, “Funeral and End of Life Planning,” which can be downloaded here or picked up at the church office. When the person completing it has it filled out, he or she may give a copy to Peace Lutheran, in complete confidence, so it will be available at the time of death, per the wishes of the person completing the form.
Visit the page Funeral and Estate Planning for more information about end-of-life planning.
Giving Jar Stories
Children are able to participate in so many aspects of worship as full participants – and the offering is one of them. At offering time, kids are invited to bring forward a coin or a bill to place in the Giving Jar at the front of the sanctuary. Read more about the Giving Jar here.
