Pastor Jonathan Vehar came to serve as pastor of Peace since the Fall 2016. He is actively involved in the community working with Peace’s outreach ministries, youth ministries, and adult education.
He has a passion for inclusion of all God’s people in the life of the church and an unusual love for all things Robert’s Rules of Order. These interests have allowed him to be active in the greater South Dakota Synod as chair of the Mission Partners committee of Evangelical Outreach, Synod Assembly parliamentarian, and president of the Prairie Rivers Pastor’s Conference. In the ELCA, he serves on the planning team for the Definitely-abled Youth Leadership Event, associated with the ELCA Youth Gathering and helped to draft the ECLA Message on Disability.
Pastor Jonathan hails from the much warmer city of Albuquerque, NM. He completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of New Mexico with a focus in Religious Studies, History, and Philosophy. He received his Master’s of Divinity degree from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, graduating in 2009.
