PSALM 25 – Gathered As One At the Feast

It would be beautiful if we lived in a world without the need for saints. However, we do live in a fallen world of sin, in which we cause harm to ourselves and our neighbors. From wounds like greed, selfishness, and fear, the injustice of systemic poverty and wealth inequality spreads: where one person bloats while another starves. In living so far apart, with such different experiences, it can be hard for all of us to remember that we are truly equal in Christ. As sinners in need of a savior, as saints who have been restored, we are called to feast together at God’s kingdom table: a feast of mercy, justice, and love, to which all people are invited in their fullness. Thanks be to God for the love of Christ that transforms us, both here in this world, and the next.

– Pastor Alex

With the words of saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Let us pray: “Make us worthy, Lord, to serve our fellow human beings through the world who live and die in poverty and hunger. Give them through our hands this day their daily bread, and by our understanding love, give peace and joy. Amen.” (ELW p.87)
