Matthew 9:22

22 Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that moment.  

We are wonderfully made, but we are very complex, too. Just as there are many anatomical systems that keep the body working (e.g. circulatory, pulmonary, nervous, digestive, etc.), we also have mental health issues, emotional issues, societal issues, and faith issues that can impede healing. 

This woman’s body had been healed, but when Jesus saw her, he saw that she needed so much more. She needed to be restored to her community; she needed to be emotionally healed from her years of living as an outsider. He told her to “take heart”. That’s another way of saying everything is going to be OK. 

Sometimes just knowing that Jesus sees us and is saying to us “everything is going to be OK”, is all we need.

Lord Jesus, help me to know you see me. And help me to believe that because you love me, I can trust that everything is going to be OK. Amen.
