We’ve heard from some excellent ministry partners from around the nation this week. But have you had a chance to check out our own Neighbors in Solidarity right here in Sioux Falls? I’d love to highlight some of these mission and outreach communities with you! Read below about a just a couple of our regular partners, join us at worship this weekend to hear from St. Dysmas with Pastor Jeff, and sign up on line for one of our monthly outreach and service events to be a part of God’s Work, Our Hands:
Pueblo de Dios is our local Spanish-speaking congregation of the ELCA in Sioux Falls. This welcoming worship community is open for anyone who would like to attend. Pastora Maria and her congregation provide support for Sioux Falls residents who are learning English as a new language, have recently immigrated to the United States, or are members of our vibrant Spanish speaking community. Together with Pueblo de Dios, Peace holds a yearly tamale sale, with the proceeds going directly to support the daily needs of the congregation.
Church on the Street is our local ministry for those who are living with housing insecurity and systemic poverty in Sioux Falls. Join COTS for Tuesdays at Laundry With Love, on the second Saturday monthly for worship and lunch, and at a variety of seasonal activities such as the annual Hope & Healing event. Together with COTS, Peace supports a yearly worship service and meal, a week of Laundry With Love, a month of Easter Eggs, and partnership in prayer.
Shepherd’s Table is our local worshipping community for LGBTQ+ Christians. For those who have experienced judgement and rejection in church spaces, this dinner-church gathering is a friendly, grace-filled space of welcome in the name of Jesus. Together with Shepherd’s Table, Peace sponsors an annual Friendsgiving (Thanksgiving with Friends) dinner church service, and provides ongoing prayer, presence, and partnership.
