A Small Thing with Great Love: The Card Ministry at Peace

As Pastor Elizabeth shared on Ash Wednesday, she is a big proponent of The Little Way. Mother Teresa once said, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

That spirit is at the heart of the Card Ministry at Peace.

In a congregation of 3,000+ members, it would be easy for someone to feel unseen during a difficult season—or even during a joyful one. The Card Ministry is one simple, beautiful way we remind each other: You are known. You are prayed for. You are not alone.

A handwritten card may seem like a small gesture. But for someone grieving, recovering, celebrating a milestone, or quietly carrying a burden, it can be a powerful expression of Christ’s love.

There are two ways to get involved:

Make a Card

If you enjoy being creative, you can design and create cards at home and drop them off at the church office anytime. You’re also invited to join the monthly Arts & Crafts gathering on the second Thursday of each month, 2-4pm, in the Shalom Room. It’s a time of creativity, fellowship, and shared purpose.

Write a Card

If writing encouragement is more your gift, visit with Pastor Elizabeth to receive a dozen pre-stamped cards and addresses. You can send them on your own schedule, taking a moment to pray for each individual as you write.

This ministry is a reminder that stewardship isn’t only about financial gifts. It’s about offering our time, creativity, compassion, and prayer. It’s about being the hands and heart of Christ in small, faithful ways.

As Jesus tells us, we are called to be salt and light. Sometimes that light shines through something as simple as a handwritten note.

And sometimes, that small thing carries great love.
