HEBREWS 11 - Faithful Ancestors Before Us

This week we prepare for the annual tradition of All Saints weekend, in which we remember our loved ones who have died and returned to God’s presence before us. We also give thanks for the present saints around us, and we pray God’s blessing on the saints who will come after us. For, just as each and every one of us is a sinner in need of God’s grace, we are also saints: made new and washed clean in the waters of baptism. Through Christ’s forgiveness, the Word’s guidance and the Spirit’s work, we go out to share the good news of Jesus in all kinds of times, places, and ways. Thanks be to God for our past and present saints, and hopefulness to all yet to come!

– Pastor Alex

With the words of saint Augustine of Hippo, Let us pray: O Loving God, to turn away from you is to fall, to turn towards you is to rise, and to stand before you is to abide forever Grant us, dear God, in all our duties, your help; in all our uncertainties, your guidance; in all our dangers, your protection; and in all our sorrows, your peace; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. (ELW p.87)
