Matthew 10:38-39  

Jesus taught: “Whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.” 

Today we get to the crux of this teaching. Jesus has been building up to this: follow me. Follow me—not to glory or fame or money or power—follow Jesus to the Cross. The ultimate in self-sacrificing love. 

It is not about me. It is not about you. It is all about God, and God’s love for the suffering. 

What is the cross you are carrying right now? In what way are you suffering? Know that God is near you. And if you are lucky enough to not be suffering…like me right now…we are to help the suffering around us. To do the work we can do while it is still day. 

This is the life that Jesus promises to Christians: a life of working with others and spreading God’s love. 

I have been blessed to be doing this for almost 30 years! (My pearl anniversary in July 2026!) I have no regrets that I chose this not only as my life but as my profession. I am blessed to minister to and with y’all every day!

Lord, You went to the cross for me to bear mu sin and suffering. How can I minister to those around me? Show me! Amen
