PSALM 46 – a prayer for courage

As we continue to spend time being with God in prayer, we turn now to the Psalms for words of dwelling in God’s love. Did you know that many of the Psalms, which were sung together in worship, were often offered up as a form of musical, communal prayer to God? In this tradition, for this week, I have chosen Psalms for requests of courage, comfort, guidance, forgiveness, joy, protection, and help. I pray that you spend time with each Psalm, each day, praying them aloud and soaking in the promises of God. Let each reading be a devotion to you as you spend time restored in God’s loving presence.

– Pr. Alex

Let us pray: Blessed Lord God, you have caused the holy scriptures to be written for the nourishment of your people. Grant that we may hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that, comforted by your promises, we may embrace and forever hold fast to the hope of eternal life, which you have given us in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. (ELW p.72)
