PSALM 121 – a prayer for help  

This is another Psalm that has been set to music in contemporary song. When I am stuck in times of anxiety, I find courage and comfort in these familiar words. Fear can be heavy, and bow our heads low; but God has a way of filling us back up with courage, so that we might once again lift our eyes to the horizon, and see God’s new life and rescue everywhere.

Let us pray: God, our refuge and strength, you have bound us together in a common life. In all our conflicts, help us to confront one another without hatred or bitterness, to listen for your voice amid competing claims, and to work together with mutual forbearance and respect; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
