A Place Where We Can Gather
The Gathering Place isn’t just a room—it’s a time capsule that holds the heart of Peace Lutheran Church. It was the original structure built when Peace became a church in 1964. Since then, that same footprint has served many purposes, from music and youth ministry to office space.
With the completion of the Peace NEXT campaign, the Gathering Place entered a new season of ministry: a primary hub for community before and after worship, and our main presentation space for Bible studies, seminars, special groups, and more.
There was just one problem. The Peace NEXT plans included the audio and visual equipment needed to make this a truly multimedia space for the future, but with unpredictable increases in construction costs, we had to prioritize other parts of the project—leaving the installation of audio and camera equipment for later.
The many groups that use this vital space have felt those limitations. Then, through a simple invitation, a Peace member—and frequent user of the Gathering Place—generously provided resources that will allow us to complete this next step.
This project will include speaker coverage throughout the room so everyone can hear clearly, along with a microphone and dedicated inputs for multimedia presentations. And as we welcome an increasing number of snowbirds, we’ll add conference-style cameras and ceiling microphones so members and friends joining from afar can feel like they never left.
The generosity of this congregation never ceases to amaze me—and it continues to empower the ministry God has called us to in Sioux Falls.
Thank you to everyone who helped provide the resources to complete this wonderful space. We’re now working with installers to schedule the work, and we’re tentatively planning for these updates to be completed in early summer.
