Matthew 28:17
"When they saw him, they worshiped him, but they doubted.”
What a relief, to know that even the closest disciples of Jesus were also imperfect! There are times when we put great pressure on ourselves to be the very best Christian possible: faithful, disciplined, focused, righteous, without selfishness, without need. But is that even achievable? After all, we have a savior because we need one. God shows up in our world not because we have won a victory that earned it, but because God loves us, so dearly, that not even our imperfections can dissuade God from coming near as our savior.
– Pr. Alex
Let us pray: God, help me to let go of my imperfections. At the foot of the cross, help me to see myself and others as Jesus Christ sees us: children of God, forgiven and saved, beautiful even in our brokenness. Share your abundant mercy with us, and likewise, help us to be gentle with the standards we set for ourselves and others. Amen.
